Our Course
Let me explain what this course is about. The course is an analysis of dream representation. This an unorthodox way of looking at dreaming, and therefore somewhat confusing. It's an interesting topic because it is not dream analysis, but more an analysis of dream representation. Dreams are portrayed in popular media on a daily basis. Movies and television shows all have dream sequences that are portrayed in an intentional manner. Scenes can be displayed in many different styles, such as surrealism, realism, comedy, or horror. This course is analyzing how the dream is presented. If it is presented in a creepy, eerie style, why? What is the director or producer trying to say with this style? What overall affect is trying to be obtained by making a dream trippy? Or very real? Or very horrific? These are the kinds of questions we ask in this class. Not analyzing dreams, but analyzing how they are represented.
